Product Spotlight: <br>Machine Tool Probe Stylus TM4-6053-C
If you’ve purchased a new CNC machine tool lately, chances are it uses a touch probe. On-machine probes can really increase machine tool productivity. They can quickly identify parts, align them to the machine tool axes, and even take mid-cycle measurements.
Most machine tool touch probes use a stylus with a ceramic stem. Ceramic is lightweight, rigid, and impervious to most coolants. Ceramic also serves as a “mechanical fuse”. If the stylus unexpectedly collides with the workpiece or the machine, the ceramic will break, helping to prevent further damage.
The stylus shown above is our TM4-6053-C. It’s our most popular machine tool stylus. 50.0 mm long from its stainless steel base to the center of its 6.0 mm diameter ruby ball, it uses a 4.5 mm diameter ceramic stem. Altogether it weighs less than 5 grams. They’re always available for overnight delivery.
