CES 2025 Wrap-Up

The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, or CES, is an enormous event. The exhibitors have huge booths to showcase their latest products. The massive show consumes all three Las Vegas Convention Center halls, including outdoor areas, which feature automotive exhibits and food trucks. CES also occupies most of the Venetian Resort Hotel’s convention area. This year I spent two days at CES. According to my smart watch, I walked more than 25,000 steps both days. Here are a few of the things that caught my eye.

Here’s a tabletop CNC mill (above video). It runs on 120 VAC power, and uses compressed air for coolant. It has a built-in tool rack, seen to the right of the table. It was milling small aluminum parts. The sales person showed me a titanium piece with a slot milled through. He said that the same machine had produced it.Here’s another tabletop CNC mill with a 4th axis rotary table (below video).

How about some smart binoculars? (below photo) They can “enrich your view with dynamic overlays – everything from peaks, water springs and trails, to stars, planets, and galaxies”. I wonder what they’d see at a football game?

Finally, an AI-enhanced app to guide you through makeup application. Take a selfie, and the app suggests how you can best enhance your look. (see below)

As always, CES had plenty of intriguing gadgets. I expected to see a lot more AI-enhanced products, but it appears that we’re still in the very early stages of AI integration. CES 2026 will probably bring more breakout products. I’ll be there next year!
